The long hook is used in crops where driplines are installed hanging, such as vineyards

The long hook allows the dripline to be closer to the ground and reduce the possibility that leaves or branches come into contact with the dripline and disrupt the water flow to the hook. The long hook has to be connected to the metal wire that is connected from post to post. The drop stop design of the hook allows the drop to form correctly at the hook so it can fall to the soil.
