Melpool BR/20 BCDMH (bromo-chloro-dimethlhydantoin ) is a pool disinfectant which is a mixture of bromine (66%) and chlorine (27%). When compared to chlorine, bromine is less irritating to the eyes and does not produce a “chlorine” smell created by chloramine. Compared to inorganic chlorine sanitizer, BCDMH does not disintegrate under sunlight or at high temperaturse therefore does not need a stabilizer. Although the pH range ideal for disinfection is wider for bromine (up to 8.5), when compared to chlorine (up to 7.6), bromine is not as effective as chlorine.
